Stupid Mom Moments

Published by mrsbear0309 at 3:02 pm under Uncategorized Edit This

Whenever any of my four children has a birthday, my mother-in-law gives them all money. Not alot. Between $25 and $40, with the birthday child receiving the largest amount. They all look forward to birthdays cause it means cash in their pocket.

My five year old is by far the least frugal spender. The money is earmarked way before he gets it in his eager little hands. Usually he’s amped to buy a video game or some dinosaur related toy. He’s into Yu-Gi-Oh! cards now, so naturally the prospect of a Yu-Gi-Oh! Playstation 2 game really excited him. About a week ago, when he got his cash, we went online to Amazon and purchased this game  used. He’s been checking the mail ever since.

Today it arrived. Before even showing it to him I, being the practical and concientious consumer that I am, decided to pop out the disc and check for scratches. Instead…I broke it in half with my brute-like strength and mannish hands.

I. Felt. Like. Crap.

I immediately went to Amazon to remedy the situation by re-purchasing said game. Thank goodness, I hadn’t shown it to him yet, otherwise I’d be consoling him well into next week. Instead I just have to field his inquiries with pointed attacks on the post office’s inefficiency. I apologize in advance to any postal workers out there, but it’s my rear end on the line here and one thing I do retain from my corporate employment, always CYA. Innocent
