Thursday Thirteen - Things I Did While My Internet Was Down

Yesterday morning as I was making my blog rounds, a steaming cup of coffee in my hands, there was a knock on the front door. (Which coincidentally made me jump out of my chair and slosh java in my lap because the slightest tap gets the dogs barking like the hounds of hell and scares the bejeezus out of me, but that’s neither here nor there.)

My neighbor was at the door to inform us that he’d just run over our exposed DSL cable with his lawnmower.

Hooray. (Insert sarcasm here.)

So our connection was out until today when the service person was able to come and repair it. Pretty speedy service overall, but in the down time I did manage to get a few things done I might not have otherwise.

See the internet is a big distraction for me. (Yes, I know, the first step is admitting I have a problem.) So I figured I’d share how I passed the time while I was unplugged not including my usual mom-chauffeur duties .

1.  Made pudding. Yes, it was instant, what of it?

2. Dusted stuff.

3. Polished previously dusted stuff.

4. Vacuumed dog hair.

5. Mopped tile.

6. Took the kids to the library.

7. Finished a book. “The Road” by Cormac McCarthy for the curious.

8. Washed and dried kids clothes. Because they get dirty ALOT.

9. Folded and put away kids clothes. (I listed this separately because I will often let clean clothes sit in the drier for days without folding, usually until I need the drier for the next load of laundry. I loathe folding.)

10. Emptied the dishwasher.

11. Re-loaded the dishwasher. In the same day. That’s a feat for me.

12. Watched “Baby Mama” with Tina Fey. (I didn’t watch it with her, she just happened to be in it. Fun movie, but for the record I love Tina Fey.)

13. Caught up on my DVR watching. “Heroes”, “Project Runway”, and ahem “America’s Next Top Model.” Yes, I’m hanging my head.

Okay, I suppose it’s not that impressive, and it is a little telling of what I accomplish (or don’t) in a typical day as far as house work is concerned but then again, I am no Martha Stewart.

I know what you mean with all that. I’m a newly wed that is a stay at home person and I suck at getting stuff put up or cleaned, I need to work on this. I usually watch tv if the internet is off.
